The story of the 2018 Interschool Talent Show Charity Fair

Following the success of the Avenor Charity Fair in December 2017, Avenor International High School students are organising a new charity event to help children from families with low income to have access to education. This is their story.

Every year, the Interschool Talent Show brings together talented children from various international schools in Bucharest. Both children and parents attend this event to watch a display of magical moments performed in front of a large audience and a jury made up of professionals from the music and dancing industry.

For the second year in a row, Avenor College had the pleasure to organise the event. This year, the event will also have a strong charity component, offering guests the opportunity to contribute to giving children from disadvantaged families a chance to a brighter future.

Following the success enjoyed in organising the Avenor Charity Fair in December, we, Avenor International High School students, are happy to put together a new Charity Fair that will be open throughout the duration of the show in the lobby of the event venue. Guests will be invited to purchase delicious snacks and beverages prepared by us or to simply make a donation. All the funds raised at this event will be donated to “Inima de Copil” Foundation for the project “One village, one child”, a scholarship programme helping children who come from families with low income and have good results in school to continue to have access to education.

Why we care

So many children in Romania have their right to a good education taken away due to the financial difficulties of their families. Gifted children are unable to access their full potential and thus it gets lost. We cannot possibly relate to their life stories because we, compared to them, are privileged. We get to go to private schools and access the highest possible levels of education. Our parents can go to sleep at night knowing they have cared for all the needs of their children, unlike the parents of the children who can’t even afford the bus ticket to the nearest public school. Together we can help those families by helping those who have already taken action.

“Inima de Copil” Foundation has been helping children in Romania since 1996. The Foundation’s projects include introducing free transportation for children who couldn’t go to school because they lived too far away, workshops for those who were unable to receive any type of education, free rent for children from the rural areas going to high school or university in larger cities and many more.

How you can help

“Inima de Copil” was founded by people who decided to act and contribute to a real, significant change. We, Avenor International High School students, decided to take action as well. Starting up multiple charity events, including this one, we are raising money to help the Foundation help children in need.

There will be a lot of work and effort on our part, but we wish to make a change and we know it has to start with each of us. With your help, we can support the Foundation offer gifted children a chance to education and building a better future.

We are looking forward to seeing many of you on Monday, February 12, 5 pm at „Ion Manu” Cultural Center in Otopeni to enjoy the show and contribute to making a difference.
