About Admission to Avenor College

Avenor College is a selective school that uses a holistic approach in its admission process and its final evaluation of every student. When we analyse an application we are guided by the principles established by our Admission Policy.

Please read this documents before applying to Avenor College.

Children who come to Avenor go through an admissions process and are tested on the basic subjects of study. In addition to these results, we consider the feedback from the educational team (interacting with the child on the day of his or her admission visit to Avenor College).

Please read below the detailed admission criteria:

Avenor Nursery

•  Children must be between 2 and 4 years old on or before September 1st

•  We enrol children at the age of 2 years old until December 31 in the same school year only if there are places available at the Reception Green.

•  Children younger than 2 years old (on December 31st) will be enrolled in the following school year.

Reception

•  Children must be between 4 and 5 years old on or before September 1st.

Year One

•  Children must be between 5 and 6 years old on or before September 1st.

 

PRIMARY SCHOOL

•  Minimum GOOD for admission tests (Mathematics, English, Romanian)

•  Exemplary behaviour (average 10 at the current school)

GYMNASYUM

•  Minimum 8.5 for admission tests (Mathematics, English, Romanian and French or German or Spanish - only 7.8 classes are tested in the second language studied)

•  Exemplary behaviour (average 10 at the current school) 

HIGH SCHOOL

9th Grade

•  Minimum 8.9 for admission tests (Mathematics, English and French / German / Spanish)

•  Successful interviewing in English

•  Minimum 8.9 at Evaluarea Națională exam or Minimum 5 at Checkpoint Cambridge Exams

•  Exemplary behaviour (average 10 at the current school) 

 10th Grade

Admission to the 10th grade is based on the evaluation of the child's academic path until the time of application:

    •  Admission tests (depending on the students' options at IGCSE)

    •  Successful interviewing in English

    •  Exemplary behaviour (average 10 at the current school) 

    11th Grade

    •  Results at IGCSE (minimum 8 IGCSE exams)

    •  Minimum 5 grades of C in the IGCSE exams

    •  Minimum grade B for the IGCSE subjects that the student wants to continue at A level

    •   Exemplary behaviour (average 10 at the current school)

    12th Grade

    Admission to the 12th grade is based on the evaluation of the child's academic path until the time of application:

    •  Assessment of previous results (transcript / school certificate / Cambridge certificate)

    •  Admission tests (depending on the students' choices at A level)

    •  Successful interviewing in English

    •  Exemplary behaviour (average 10 at the current school)
