Geography and Global Perspectives Teacher

8 delta Form Tutor

Hi! My name is Viorel Căpățînă. I was born in Brașov, a city surrounded by natural beauties and I think this is one of the reasons why I love nature in all its states, shapes and sizes.

As a lifelong learner, I have had the chance to experience different levels of teaching starting from primary, going through middle school, high school and university, approaching different teaching methods and curricula.

I graduated from Al.I.Cuza University from Iasi, Faculty of Geography and Geology; Geography - Foreign language (English).

I hold an MA in Soil Science, a Ph.D. in Geography (Geomorphology) and some other certificates (National Teaching Certificate, MYP Certificate in Humanities, DP Certificate in Geography, DP Certificate in Environmental Systems and Societies).

I have been working in both public and private schools in Romania and abroad (Singapore) teaching mainly Geography/Humanities and Ecology (Environmental Systems and Societies).

I consider myself an open-minded person, with a great sense of humour, active and anytime ready for adventure. Working in Singapore gave me the chance to participate in several volunteering activities (MacRitchie Nature Reserve awareness walks, giving a helping hand in a stray dogs shelter, helping a famous old Singaporean orchid grower and collector -Koh Keng Hoe) and in this way I came in contact with different people, mentalities, cultures, traditions and languages.

As a Geography and Biology teacher, I strongly believe that we, humans, are just tiny components of the entire natural system that is our planet - The Earth.

I think that teachers have the role of helping and guiding the students to find their own path in life.

And like many of my colleagues, I love traveling, experiencing different cuisines and I do bird watching all year round, anytime I have the chance. So, due to my passion for birds, we now have a club for bird watching in the school. All the activities we do teach students about the amazing and interesting world of these winged creatures.

This is my fifth year at Avenor and I can clearly state that this is a healthy, open and challenging environment. Here I am ready for new challenges together with my Avenorian team!
