Ana Olivia Lăzărescu

Nursery Teacher

I begin each school year with the enthusiasm to make a positive impact in the lives of children and a sense of anticipation and fulfillment. I am honored to be a part of the educational process and to contribute to shaping the future alongside the little ones and parents. My goal is to provide all the necessary support for their harmonious development and to be a teacher to whom children can come with any problem, concern, curiosity, or just to share a funny story.

With over five years of experience in teaching art to young learners, including the last three years working with EYFS and the Statutory Framework, I am genuinely committed to the holistic development of every child. Through my work, I strive to foster a deep sense of belonging both within my group of students and within the Avenor community as a whole. I have successfully translated this aspiration into reality by organising various events and learning opportunities outside the classroom, aiming to provide children with truly memorable educational experiences.

I graduated from the Art History department at the University of Bucharest and pursued a master’s degree in “Theory and Practice of Image” from the Faculty of Letters. My desire to share a love for art and culture with others materialized through workshops and art courses I have been organizing since 2018, often held in museum spaces and galleries, as well as through the “Dumbrava cu Idei” project, art camps for children.

In 2023, I had the opportunity to undertake a cultural mediator training programme at Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein. There, I delved into the connections between art and other knowledge domains, discovering innovative ways of working with communities through art. This training taught me how to convey fundamental values like ecology, human rights, and empathy, transforming them into significant experiences for children.

As an educator, I focus on the symbiosis between learning and art, and my teaching approach revolves around an interdisciplinary methodology that has proven to greatly impact a child’s development. Connecting with children through teaching and creating a learning environment in which they feel secure, encouraged to explore the world around them, and develop empathy and critical thinking, represents a central purpose in my life. This commitment stems from the very first sparks of passion ignited during my initial year of university studies. I discovered this profound calling while participating in an educational programme for children from foster care centers and disadvantaged backgrounds.

I am particularly interested in acquainting young ones with various healthy and constructive ways to express their feelings and ideas through diverse artistic languages. Managing emotions, crafting new modes of communication, and embracing diverse perspectives are just a few of the benefits that alternative arts education and access to culture can bring to the community. I consistently apply all these tools to assist children in reaching and surpassing their educational objectives.

Ultimately, I am honored and thrilled to guide the young ones on their educational and personal journey. Through education and art, we unlock doors to a world of knowledge, empathy, and creativity, thereby shaping a strong and inspired Avenor community.
