Miriam Howard

Nursery Literacy Teacher

I was lucky enough to fall into early childhood teaching when I was considering my further education in 2007. I was unsure of the path I wanted to take and now, 12 years after qualifying I haven’t looked back. My passion for teaching started to grow during my time in university between 2007 and 2010 when I was learning about all the different styles of teaching for the early years. This passion continued to grow when I moved to the Middle East in 2014 and had the amazing opportunity to teach in an International setting and meet so many people and students who taught me something new everyday.

I believe my role as a teacher is to inspire young minds. I approach my style of teaching in a holistic way and relate everything to real life situations. The core of my teaching always comes back to the well being of my students and ensuring they are secure in their learning environment.

I studied Early Childhood Education at the University College Cork and graduated in 2010. I completed a National Professional Qualification in Middle Leadership through Taaleem, the company I was working for in the Middle East. I have a passion for speech and drama in Early Years and currently am studying a Masters in Childhood Speech and Language Communication Needs.

My professional experience began in Dublin in 2010. I lived and worked there for 3 years before I took the risk of moving abroad early 2014. I worked for 3 schools in Dubai, teaching both British and International Baccalaureate curricula over 8 years.

My passion is the outdoors. My first love is running, closely followed by swimming and cycling. I am also looking forward to the ski season in Romania. I am looking forward to exploring the country as I also have a passion for travelling and have travelled to 30 different countries in the last 8 years.

I have volunteered to train groups of young children in athletics and team sports and would hope to continue this at Avenor.

Moving to Bucharest is not the only new beginning for me. I am also new to being in a specialist teacher role and am looking forward to the challenges this will bring. Together with my students I hope to grow more and learn something new everyday.
