Assessment is an integrated part of the teaching and learning process. Assessment aims at:<\/b><\/p>\n

  • Decreasing the judgement value and increasing the constructive value of the obtained performance;<\/li>\n
  • Setting the outcome based on a clear set of criteria of which the students are aware of before assessment;<\/li>\n
  • Completing the quantitative measure with qualitative appreciation (for instance, descriptive comments);<\/li>\n
  • Focusing on progress, starting with identifying strengths, things to improve and adjusting to learning needs;<\/li>\n
  • Completing the formal assessment with alternative assessment methods;<\/li>\n
  • Highlighting the effects of learning.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
    At Avenor College, we use different grading systems for each key stage:<\/span><\/div>\n

        • The Below expectations value indicates that sometimes the student shows lack of involvement and motivation towards learning.<\/li>\n

          Progress<\/strong>shows whether the teacher believes the student is \u201con the right track\u201d to achieve the learning goals and the desired outcome.<\/p>\n

          Attainment<\/strong>is the official grade and represents the level at which the student is currently working. It is a \u201csnapshot\u201d of the overall school performance and reflects the test results, homework, projects, etc. that the student has achieved during the learning and evaluation period so far.<\/p>\n

          Target Grade<\/strong> is an indicator of the average grade targeted for the end of the school year; this is the goal the teacher has set based on previous results.<\/p>\n

          Informing parents<\/strong> about the progress of their children is an essential part of the family \/ school partnership and plays a vital role in raising the level of student achievement. Reporting to parents is carefully planned so that parents can interact with teachers each term.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

          Reporting to parents takes the following forms:<\/p>\n

          • Parent-teacher Meetings (Feedback Days, individual meetings)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

            Out teachers will use a variety of methods to assess each student\u2019s progress: reports, essays, quizzes, sample exam papers, individual and group presentations, and a wide range of tasks depending on the requirements of a particular subject.<\/p>\n

            At Avenor College, we use different grading systems for each key stage: For high school (grades 9 – 12), teachers respect the Cambridge system grading scale using letters from A to G. A failed exam is marked with the letter \u201dU\u201d (Ungraded)<\/span><\/p>\n

            • Grades A*-G for IGCSE in Grade 9 and 10<\/li>\n
            • Grades A-E for AS in Grade 11<\/li>\n
            • Grades A*-E for A2 in Grade 12<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
