The 8th edition of the \u201c<\/span><\/i><b><i>What\u2019s Worth Learning?<\/i><\/b><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d conference, themed \u201c<\/span><\/i><b><i>The Future: Between Anticipation and Preparation<\/i><\/b><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d, once again confirmed that the direction we are taking is both relevant and necessary.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"Conferin\u021ba \u201eCe merit\u0103 \u00eenv\u0103\u021bat?\u201d - Drago\u0219 Stanca &amp; Diana Stafie\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/eEzLOuHnJuA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a context shaped by technological acceleration, artificial intelligence and an overwhelming flow of information, the discussions during the conference highlighted the importance of skills that Avenor students already practise every day: critical thinking, the ability to make connections, responsibility, and a strong sense of identity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-44523 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.avenor.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Prega-7-300x169.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"378\" height=\"213\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.avenor.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Prega-7-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/www.avenor.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Prega-7-1030x579.png 1030w, https:\/\/www.avenor.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Prega-7-768x432.png 768w, https:\/\/www.avenor.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Prega-7-1536x864.png 1536w, https:\/\/www.avenor.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Prega-7-2048x1152.png 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 378px) 100vw, 378px\" \/>\u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The future is already here, but it is not always visible or understood<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,\u201d emphasised Drago\u0219 Stanca, founder of the Ethical Media Alliance, as he explained the accelerating pace of technological change and its impact on democracy, information and childhood. He illustrated how technological progress can no longer be perceived in linear terms: ten ordinary steps in daily life translate into more than a kilometre in technology. The pace is no longer exponential, but \u201csuper-exponential\u201d, and developments in artificial intelligence, robotics, biotechnology and quantum computing are not happening sequentially, but simultaneously.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This reality brings innovation, but also confusion, anxiety and growing generational gaps.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Scrolling is the new smoking,<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d Stanca added, pointing out that today\u2019s digital ecosystem is built efficiently, but not ethically. Children are growing up in an environment where their attention is a commodity, and algorithms reward extreme emotion and polarisation rather than truth or the public good. The message is clear: it is no longer enough to protect children. We must teach them to understand how platforms work and to consume information with a critical eye.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-44524 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.avenor.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Prega-6-300x169.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"377\" height=\"212\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.avenor.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Prega-6-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/www.avenor.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Prega-6-1030x579.png 1030w, https:\/\/www.avenor.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Prega-6-768x432.png 768w, https:\/\/www.avenor.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Prega-6-1536x864.png 1536w, https:\/\/www.avenor.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Prega-6-2048x1152.png 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 377px) 100vw, 377px\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What if we taught the future in school?<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d challenged Diana Stafie, strategic foresight consultant and founder of Future Station. The concept of future literacy encourages us to explore possible scenarios, use imagination and develop transdisciplinary thinking \u2014 exactly what we do at Avenor through integrated projects and an applied curriculum. One concrete exercise that resonated strongly with parents was that of \u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">memories from the future<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d: before making a decision, children are encouraged to imagine possible outcomes. This helps reduce anxiety and supports more conscious, responsible decision-making.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The conference reaffirmed that Avenor\u2019s pedagogy \u2014 centred on critical thinking, autonomy, responsibility and character \u2014 is not only relevant, but essential.
