Hello! I am Diana Slabinschi and this is my first year at Avenor Nursery as a Substitute Teacher. I am thrilled for the upcoming year and eager to learn from this dedicated and talented team while sharing my knowledge, experience and skills.
My academic and professional background can be defined as a kaleidoscope of experiences: While studying English and German Philology at University of Bucharest, I wrote various articles for an urban cultural magazine, I did a Communication internship for a Romanian NGO - RAA, and continued as a copywriter for an advertising agency. My experience with children also started during University, while doing writing and translation gigs. I held private Foreign Languages lessons for children aged 4-14 and adults.
When I moved to London, UK, I had been given a collaboration teaching opportunity - to work with children from various cultures as a Teacher Assistant, and it felt like a door had been opened to a new realm that was completely foreign to me until that moment. The characteristics that define children are as many as they can foster. A teacher has to bear in mind which features set them apart or which bring them together. Children experience things for the first time in their life and with such a carved intensity that builds the foundation of their being, their personality, their mind and their self-expression. Thus, this is why I chose the teaching/leader path, to inspire and guide pristine minds, while my adult mind never stops learning as well.
