Maria – Diana Petre
Nursery Teacher
Nursery Summer School Coordinator

Ever since I can remember, I’ve been drawn to the magic of teaching. Maybe it’s in my blood – after all, I’m proud to be the second generation of teachers in my family. The spark was lit early, and I followed it wholeheartedly, starting with my studies at Liceul Pedagogic Ștefan Bănulescu in Călărași. There, between lesson plans and classroom simulations, I discovered the deep importance and incredible responsibility of shaping young minds.
My teaching journey has been both humbling and rewarding. Since joining Avenor in 2020, I’ve had the unique opportunity to teach across all early years groups – Nursery Green (2 – 3 years old), Nursery Blue (3 – 4 years old), Reception (4 – 5 years old), and even Year One (5 – 6 years old). Each stage brought its own rhythm, its own challenges, and, most importantly, its own unforgettable moments of joy and learning. Whether teaching in-person, online, or in hybrid settings, I’ve learned that flexibility, creativity, and love are the cornerstones of meaningful education.
Currently, I am both a Nursery Teacher and Nursery Summer School Coordinator, roles that have allowed me to contribute to the community not only as an educator, but also as someone who helps shape the enriching experiences children look forward to each summer. Through every interaction, every carefully crafted lesson, I strive to create a nurturing space that feels like a second home to my students – a place where they are seen, heard, and inspired.
I see the role of a teacher as far more than delivering knowledge. We are builders of confidence, mentors of imagination, and partners in every child’s journey. Especially in the early years, the impact we have goes beyond academics; it’s about helping little humans grow into kind, curious, and resilient people. And there is no greater feeling than watching a child’s eyes light up when they understand something for the first time, or when they simply feel safe and happy in your care.
Beyond the classroom, I am a firm believer in balance and joy. I find peace in reading and the quiet challenge of puzzles, and I treasure every moment spent with my family. Whether we’re traveling or simply sharing stories over a meal, I hold tight to these experiences, they are the heart of who I am.
At Avenor, my hope is to continue growing, not only as a teacher but as a leader and lifelong learner. I aspire to become a professional others can count on and a source of light and stability for the children I teach. The journey is not always easy, but it is always worth it.
Because at the end of the day, when I walk into a classroom and see those smiling faces, I know I’m exactly where I’m meant to be.
