Our History

2023

In the 2022-2023  school year, our students enjoyed face-to-face learning throughout the 180 school days in a larger and more modern campus, specially designed for learning. This is the first year when in our campus in Greenfield we had a Nursery Group – Year 1.

The Avenor Campus in Greenfield have now 5 main buildings, each with specific functionalities:

  • Forest: Nurseryn and Primary School
  • Green: Middle School and High School
  • Central: Administration and Secondary School II
  • Arena: Sports hall and sports studio
  • L’atelier: Arts & Technology

In June 2023, the fifth generation of 12th-grade students graduated from Avenor College International High School. The number of students in our primary, middle, and high school classes is 18-20 students per class. 

On September 1, 2023, at Avenor College study 730 students:

  • Nursery: 112
  • Primary School: 477
  • High School: 141

The educational team consists of 185 teachers, assistants, and collaborators.

2022

In 2021-2022 school year our students enjoyed face-to-face learning throughout the 180 days of school, benefiting from hybrid learning only students who were forced to remain in isolation.

We have invested approximately 4,000,000 euros for the modernization of the campus and the opening of a new school – the Secondary Building – designed for students in grades 6-12.

In June 2022, the fourth generation of 12th graders graduated from Avenor College International High School.

The number of students in our primary, middle school and high school classes is 16-20 in a class.

On September 1, 2022, 687 students study at Avenor College:

  • Nursery: 114
  • School: 440
  • High school: 133

The educational team consists of 134 teachers, assistants and collaborators.

2021

In the 2020-2021 school year, we offered face-to-face, hybrid and online learning. Out of 180 days of school, our students were present on campus as follows:

  • School: 165 days
  • Kindergarten: 175 days

We invested over 100,000 euros to make sure our devices and infrastructure are adequate to support hybrid learning.

In June 2021, the third generation of 12th grade students graduated from Avenor College International High School.

The number of students in our primary and middle school classes has increased from 15 to 16 students in a class. In high school, 18 students study in a class.

On September 1, 2021, 619 students study at Avenor College:

  • Nursery: 107
  • School: 410
  • High school: 102

The education team consists of 123 teachers, assistants and associate teachers.

2020

The 2019-2020 school year was especially challenging due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The School and Nursery were closed for students and teachers starting March 12th, as instructed by the Romanian authorities, but learning continued online uninterrupted until the end of the school year.

During the 3 months of online learning, we had:

  • 9.968 online lessons on Zoom
  • 100 video materials to support learning
  • Hundreds of individual meetings on Zoom
  • 355 learning packs including 224 activities and related resources delivered to the Nursery children
  • 79 online sessions organised during the Easter holiday
  • 48 special activities for primary children for the 2 last weeks of school
  • 14 online community events at School and Nursery
  • 13 workshops dedicated to teachers from other schools
  • 14 learning plans for each key stage

In February 2020, students had their first sports classes in the new Avenor Arena, our new sports and activities hall with a total area of more than 1000 square meters, meeting all the safety and quality standards implemented in international schools.

In June 2020, the second generation of 12th grade students graduated from Avenor College International High School.
September 1st: We expect 460 students in School and High School and 90 preschool children in Avenor Nursery.

The education team consists of 145 teachers, assistants and associate teachers.

2019

In June, the first generation of Grade 12 students graduated from Avenor College International High School.

The results obtained at the National Evaluation by our Grade 8 students placed our school on the 1st place among top schools in Bucharest. Our High School students obtained remarkable result at Cambridge IGCSE, AS and A2 exams.

September 1st: We expect 460 students in School and High School and 125 preschool children in Avenor Nursery. The educational team consists of 140 teachers, assistants and associate teachers.

2018

In May and June 2018, the second generation of Avenor International High School Grade 10 students at the A sat their IGCSE exams, and our high school organised for the first AS Level Exams for Grade 11 students.

The fifth generation of 8th-grade students graduated in June. Their results at national and international evaluations place Avenor College on the 13th place among top schools in Bucharest.

September 1, 2018: Avenor College has 360 students in Primary and Middle School, 66 students in High School and 125 preschoolers at Avenor Nursery. The teaching staff consists of 130 teachers, assistants, and associate teachers.

2017

In June, the fourth generation of 8th-grade students graduated from Avenor college. The results obtained both at the National Evaluation and the Checkpoint examinations place our school for the fourth consecutive year in the top ten schools in Bucharest.

In May and June 2017, the first generation of 10th-grade students held the IGCSE exams.

September 1st: There are 350 students in Primary and Secondary School (“Clasa pregatitoare” to Grade 8), 50 students in grades 9th-11th and 120 preschool children at Avenor Nursery.

The educational team consists of 125 teachers, assistants, and associate teachers.

2016

In June, the third generation of Grade 8 students graduated from Avenor College. Their results at National Evaluation exams placed our school among the top 10 schools in Bucharest for the third consecutive year.

Avenor College joins the Common Ground Collaborative (CGC).

September 1st: There are 308 students at Avenor Primary and Secondary School (“Clasa pregatitoare” to Grade 8), 24 students in Grades 9 and 10 and 120 students at Avenor Nursery.

The educational team consists of 120 teachers, assistants and associate teachers.

2015

In June, the second generation of Grade 8 students graduated from Avenor College. Their results at National Evaluation exams placed our school among the top 6 schools in Bucharest.

Avenor Gymnasium School has obtained the accreditation of the gymnasium cycle.

In September, Avenor International High School opens its doors with an international, English-based Cambridge curriculum.

There are 250 students at Avenor Primary, Secondary School and High School (“Clasa pregatitoare” to Grade 8) and 110 students at Avenor Nursery.

The educational team consists of 115 teachers, assistants and associate teachers.

2014

Avenor College Campus includes three buildings: Junior, Senior and Clubs, two sport grounds and age specific recreational areas.

In June, the first Grade 8 students graduated from Avenor College. Their results at National Evaluation exams placed our school among the top 10 schools in Bucharest.

The 2nd, 4th and 6th grades took the National Assessment tests, with results between “Very good” and “Excellent”.

Avenor College prepares for the accreditation of the Middle School during the academic year 2014-2015.

We begin the process for the Cambridge accreditation of Avenor International High School

September 1st, 2014: There are 250 children studying at Avenor Primary and Secondary School (“Clasa pregatitoare” to Grade 8) and 110 children studying at Avenor Nursery.

The educational team consists of 110 teachers, assistants and associate teachers.

2013

August 2013: Little London became Avenor College. Avenor College is a Romanian-British school for children aged 2 to 18 years old.

August 2013: The biggest building in our school campus is finalized and opens its doors. This building will accommodate students from Avenor Primary and Secondary School. It will also be able to accommodate the high school level.

September 1st, 2013: There are 210 students at Avenor Primary and Secondary School (“Clasa pregatitoare” to Grade 8) and 120 students at Avenor Nursery.

The educational team consists of 100 teachers and associate teachers.

2012

Little London School obtains its accreditation for Primary School and preparations are in the works to obtain accreditation for the Secondary School in 2014. March 2012: We launch the construction of a new school campus that will be dedicated to the Secondary School and will be added to the Little London campus starting beginning September 2013.

September 1st 2012: there are 164 children studying at Little London School from “clasa pregatitoare” to Grade 7 and 80 children studying at Little London Nursery.

The educational team consists of 65 teachers and associate teachers.

2011

Little London (Piata Victoriei location) nursery obtains its accreditation.

September 1st 2011: there are 108 students registered at Little London School in Grades 1 to 6 and 65 preschoolers at Little London Nursery

Little London Nursery, Piata Victoriei location, continues its activity under the patronage of the Little London School Foundation. The founding members are: Florin Segarceanu, Diana Segarceanu and Andreia Mitrea. The Pipera location remains under new management.

The educational team consists of 45 teachers and associate teachers.

2010

The development of the school is undertaken by “Fundatia Scoala Little London” whose founding members are Florin Segarceanu, Diana Segarceanu and Andreia Mitrea. They are providing financial and management support for long-term development.

The secondary school (Grades 5-8) is authorized and opens its doors.

The new educational director of Little London is Dana Papadima (a specialist in the Romanian educational system and in creating viable alternatives to the public system, and with experience in developing projects for children’s personal development).

The school moves to a new location in the Greenfield residential complex (near Baneasa forest) and the Grade 5 is established.

September 1st: There are 68 children studying in Grades 1 to 5 and 55 children studying at Little London Nursery.

The educational team consists of 35 teachers and associate teachers.

2009

The school covers Grades 1 to 4, preparations for the opening of the middle school are underway.

September 1st 2009: 21 children are studying at Little London School in Grades 1 to 4 and 35 children at Little London Nursery.

The educational team (nursery and school) consists of almost 25 teachers. We assumed a new name: “Gradinita si Scoala Little London”

2007

We assumed a new name: “Gradinita si Scoala Little London”

The primary school opens its doors in the new Pipera location.

Wonderland Nursery School expands, reaching the maximum number of children the original location could accommodate. The nurseries are authorized by the Romanian Ministry of Education and aim to be accredited by the 2010-2011 school year.

The Primary School (grades 1-4) is Authorized by the Romanian Ministry of Education, Research and Innovation. The basic program is Romanian, but is completed and improved by adding a program component in English and British style.

2003

Wonderland Kindergarten is established, a small kindergarten on Scarlatescu Street, near Victoriei Square.
