Teachers

As defined in the CAMBRIDGE INTERNATIONAL EXAMINATIONS documents, an outstanding teacher is confident, responsible, reflective, innovative and engaged. Starting with school year 2015-2016, our school is member of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE), and the traits of the Avenor College teacher are assimilated to the traits of the Cambridge teacher, as defined by CIE.

Confident in teaching their subject and involve students in the learning process.

The Cambridge teachers know their subject very well and know how to teach it. They seek to understand their students and their educational needs. They strive to convey passion for study and encourage students to be actively involved in their own learning process.

Responsible for themselves, responsive to and respectful of others

The Cambridge teachers are true professionals in their teaching approaches and are good collaborators, supporting each other. They understand that their actions will help the formation of a new generation and are concerned with the holistic development of each and every one of their students.

Reflexive interested in learning and in improving their teaching techniques.

The Cambridge teachers are students themselves, seeking to permanently build and enrich their knowledge and skills through an entire reflection and practice process involving research, evaluation and adjustment. They encourage students to become independent and reflexive.

Innovative and equipped for future challenges.

The Cambridge teachers are creative, experimenting with new ideas and seeking an inquiring approach of their teaching style. They are open to new challenges and are skilful, imaginative and flexible. They are always ready to learn and implement new techniques and abilities.

Engaged intellectually and socially, ready to commit.

The Cambridge teachers are passionate about learning in class and outside of the class, sharing their knowledge and abilities with other teachers from the educational community.

At Avenor College, we focus to a great extent on student-centred education and we believe that the most important factor that influences the success of an educational system is the degree of training and the motivation of the teachers.

According to the Avenor College school calendar, teachers attend training sessions during the INSET DAYS, monthly workshops, study groups, international school visits, “face-to-face” or online courses, national and international conferences
