Teacher of Mathematics
Mathematics has fascinated me since my school years because of its unique combination of logic, creativity, and perseverance. Choosing a career in education was a natural step, driven by my desire to share this passion and help young people discover their own potential. I believe that teaching is about far more than delivering knowledge; it is about inspiring confidence, nurturing curiosity, and supporting each student on their academic and personal journey. My goal is for every student who enters my classroom to feel valued, encouraged, and capable of achieving more than they initially thought possible.
My academic background is in engineering, and I hold both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. This foundation has given me a practical perspective on mathematics and its essential role in innovation, technology, and problem-solving. It enables me to connect mathematical concepts with real-world applications, making learning both meaningful and engaging.
My teaching career spans more than twenty years and includes experience in both Romania and Canada. Within the Canadian education system, I taught mathematics across middle school, senior secondary, and college-level programmes, working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds and with a wide range of learning needs. This international experience reinforced my belief that meaningful learning is built on relationships founded on respect, trust, and open communication. Since joining Avenor in 2025, I have been committed to fostering a culture of academic excellence in which students are encouraged to think critically, remain curious, and embrace intellectual challenges with confidence.
Outside the classroom, I enjoy reading, discovering new ideas through books, and listening to great music. I am passionate about travelling and exploring different cultures, experiences that continually broaden my perspective and enrich my teaching. Running and spending time outdoors help me maintain balance and energy, while tackling challenging mathematical problems remains one of my favourite intellectual pursuits.
At Avenor, I aspire to help students become confident, resilient learners who are well prepared for the opportunities and challenges of the future. Beyond developing strong mathematical understanding, I want to encourage them to ask thoughtful questions, think independently, and view mistakes as opportunities to learn. My hope is that every student leaves my classroom with not only a deeper understanding of mathematics, but also greater confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning.
