I am thrilled to join the Avenor College community as a Mathematics Teacher within the Teachers for Teachers programme. My path to education has been an unconventional one, but it is driven by a profound and singular vocation: empowering the next generation to think critically, logically, and independently. After working in the corporate software development sector in Bucharest, I realized that my true calling lay not in writing code for machines, but in guiding young minds to organise themselves and confidently take charge of their own futures.

My educational journey is deeply rooted in the architecture of logic and the British academic system. I spent nine formative years living in the United Kingdom, where I completed my A Levels in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, and Information Technology. Following this, I earned my Bachelor of Science in Games Software Engineering from Bournemouth University. Before my time in the UK, I developed my foundational love for numbers right here in Romania, participating in the Romanian Mathematics Olympiad and various national competitions, earning multiple medals between the years 2010 and 2015.

My core pedagogical philosophy is that mathematics is, above all else, a foundational language. When taught mechanically, it can feel abstract. However, when taught with true understanding, it becomes a powerful tool that shapes the way a human being processes the world, keeping the mind clear and structured. As an engineer, my background was dedicated to taking immense, complex systems and breaking them down into clear, solvable steps. This is the exact cognitive framework I strive to help my students build. Beyond formal academics, my greatest intrinsic satisfaction comes from helping others experience a “eureka” moment. Whether I am deconstructing the highly intricate mechanics of complex digital systems for friends or explaining a mathematical theorem, the exact second an overwhelming concept clicks into place for a learner is my greatest reward.

While my professional background is highly technical, I firmly believe that learning is a deeply social and human activity. My commitment to community and mentorship began early during my time in Scouting between 2007 and 2013. Taking on leadership roles, organising environmental initiatives, and teaching music to children at special needs schools taught me the vital importance of building authentic, trusting relationships. It showed me how to listen, adapt, and meet a learner exactly where they are.

Returning to Bucharest and seeing Avenor College feels like the perfect alignment of my experience and my future ambitions. The Teachers for Teachers programme offers me an extraordinary opportunity to refine my craft under the mentorship of experienced educators. I am incredibly eager to share my passion for the language of mathematics and to help them become the best possible versions of themselves.
