Silvana Sofian

Nursery and Primary Music Teacher
Nursery Clubs and Systems Lead

My name is Silvana Sofian, and I am delighted to have been part of the Avenor team since August 2018.

My teaching journey began more than 20 years ago, during my second year at the Faculty of Composition, Musicology and Musical Pedagogy. That was also when I started my specialisation in Choral Conducting and discovered my true passion for teaching. From the very beginning, I understood both the immense responsibility and the great privilege of being an educator. For me, inspiring children’s curiosity and nurturing a lifelong love of music, and of learning itself, is one of the most rewarding callings imaginable.

After graduating from the National University of Music Bucharest in 2008, I broadened my horizons by embracing new cultures and educational environments. Between 2008 and 2018, I lived, taught, and continued to grow professionally in the Basque Country, Panama, and Costa Rica. These international experiences enriched both my teaching practice and my perspective on education.

I joined Avenor in 2018 as a full-time Piano Teacher, and in 2021 I also took on the role of Clubs Coordinator. Since 2022, I have been teaching Music to the Year One (KS1) classes in the Nursery. From September 2026, I am delighted to extend this journey by also teaching our Preparatory (Pregătitoare) classes, supporting children as they take their first steps in discovering the joy of music.

In 2023, I took another important step in my professional development by becoming Systems Lead for the Avenor Nursery. This role has given me the opportunity to work closely with the Educational Coordinator and the Management Team, providing continuous opportunities for learning, collaboration, and professional growth.

Just when I thought my journey at Avenor could not become even more meaningful, in 2024 I joined a project that is especially close to my heart: the Avenor Parents’ Choir. Together with my colleague, Ioana Gafencu, we have had the joy of watching this initiative grow beyond anything we had imagined. This project has added yet another meaningful dimension to my experience within the Avenor family.

Starting this school year, I will also be working with students in the Pregătitoare Classes, where music becomes a space for exploration, creativity, and self-expression.

Looking back on my journey, I believe it reflects who I am: a curious and optimistic person who embraces change, enjoys new challenges, loves travelling, and is always eager to learn. Above all, music has always been, and will always remain, an essential part of my life.

I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of the Avenor family, a community where we learn from one another every day and where I have the privilege of combining my professional experience with my two greatest passions: children and music.

Each academic year begins with renewed enthusiasm, dedication, and a genuine desire to continue growing as an educator while inspiring both my students and my colleagues through my passion, creativity, and positive energy.
