Avenor Teachers

At Avenor, students are at the heart of the educational process, and our goal is to support them in reaching their full potential. Our teachers, trained to international standards, are mentors and role models who provide both specialised academic guidance and pastoral care tailored to each child’s needs. Through relationships built on trust, encouragement, and active engagement, they nurture a passion for learning, curiosity, and a love of lifelong learning, supporting every student’s academic, personal, and emotional development.

Building Teaching Excellence Through Continuous Learning

At Avenor, we believe in the power of learning, and each of us is both a learner and a teacher. Our Professional Learning Development Programme (PLD) for teaching staff reflects this belief and is designed to be intentional, collaborative, and transformative.

Grounded in the 3C pedagogy (conceptual learning, competencies development, and character education), the programme supports teachers in continuously refining their classroom practice by combining regular in-house training with carefully selected external learning opportunities. In doing so, it contributes both to individual professional growth and to the achievement of the school’s strategic objectives.

Professional Learning Development Programme (PLD)

Professional learning is continuous and embedded in everything we do. Department meetings, project discussions, and planning time all support peer learning and curriculum coherence. The impact is seen through feedback, reflection, and observations, ensuring that our programme remains relevant and effective. We firmly believe that when teachers learn, students thrive.

9 INSET Days Throughout the School Year

INSET days are dedicated to teacher training and collaboration. During these professional development sessions, the Avenor team learns together, reflects on educational practices, and plans teaching activities in a coherent way that aligns with the school’s vision. Sessions include pedagogical workshops, curriculum analysis, collaborative planning, sharing best practices, and time to adapt teaching strategies to the real needs of students. Such days are a key practice in international schools, contributing to curriculum coherence, continuous professional growth for teachers, and the development of a strong learning culture.

3 INSET Days Dedicated to New Teachers

At the beginning of each school year, teachers joining the Avenor community take part in a dedicated professional induction programme. The INSET days for new teachers provide a structured framework to familiarise them with the school’s educational culture, academic expectations, and the team’s ways of working. Through training sessions, department meetings, and mentoring support, teachers are guided to start their work with confidence and clarity, becoming active members of the Avenor community from day one.

Weekly PLD Sessions

The weekly PLD sessions provide Avenor teachers with a structured framework for continuous learning and collaboration. Each school week, for one hour, teachers participate either in whole-group sessions or in courses selected according to their professional needs and interests, all aligned with the development priorities set at the start of the school year. These meetings support the coherence of educational practices and the ongoing professional growth of our teachers.

Going Outside Avenor

We believe that the true value of quality education lies in sharing it. That’s why we strive to extend the Avenor educational model, promoting our approach to learning, collaboration, and innovation.

Teachers for Teachers Programme

Teachers for Teachers is a training and mentoring programme designed for recent graduates preparing for a career in education, as well as for teachers in their first years in the classroom. Through an intensive two-year development programme, we aim to provide them with the support they need to build a strong foundation for a successful career in education.

Oana Otves

Oana Otveș, Teacher of History

“Collaborating closely with experienced history teachers allowed me to explore new teaching strategies, broaden my understanding of historical contexts, and adopt interdisciplinary approaches.

The programme helped me strengthen my communication skills, better understand my students’ needs, and design learning environments that are both engaging and challenging.”

Andrei Vasiliu

Andrei Vasiliu, Teacher of Physics

“The aspect I appreciated most about this programme was the supportive and collaborative environment, the wide range of resources available, and the ongoing support from experienced teachers.

This ongoing mentorship significantly boosted my confidence and skills, which positively impacted both my teaching and my students’ achievements.”

Cosmina Costache

Cosmina Costache, Teacher of Geography

“I feel that, gradually, I have earned my students’ respect – and the fact that many of them happily come to Geography lessons is one of my greatest joys.

Every now and then, I also receive messages from parents telling me how much their children enjoy my classes.
I have started to feel that my lessons are becoming more lively and engaging, both for my students and for myself.”

Teachers Connected to Global Educational Practices

Avenor is part of the OECD Schools+ Network, a global community of schools that innovate, research, and learn together. Being involved in this network gives our teachers access to international professional dialogue, opportunities to collaborate with colleagues worldwide, and the chance to actively contribute to the development of scientifically validated teaching practices that are relevant for the education of the future.

Partnerships with Impact

PACT (Applied Projects in Transdisciplinary Contexts) for IMPACT is a project through which Avenor aims to actively contribute to the modernization of education in Romania. Through a partnership between an international private school and a public school, the project seeks to develop an innovative, scalable educational model that can be applied in any school across the country. Avenor teachers work hand in hand with public school teachers, testing teaching methods and techniques while sharing best practices.
