Teacher of Mathematics

I am delighted to be joining the Avenor community as a Teacher of Mathematics and look forward to supporting students throughout their learning journey. Mathematics offers a unique opportunity to develop logical thinking, curiosity, and confidence, and I am excited to help students discover the relevance and beauty of the subject both inside and outside the classroom.

I am originally from Bucharest, Romania, and my path into education has been shaped by an international academic and professional journey. I hold a BSc in Business Management from Roehampton University in London, and later completed my PGCE at Birmingham City University, where I developed a strong foundation in evidence-informed teaching and learning. My teaching experience includes working at St Matthias Secondary School in the United Kingdom, where I supported students from diverse backgrounds in developing confidence and resilience in mathematics.

What I enjoy most about teaching mathematics is helping students make meaningful connections between abstract ideas and real-world applications. I believe that confidence is built through competence, and I aim to create a welcoming classroom environment where students feel safe to explore, question, and make mistakes as part of the learning process. I encourage learners to think critically, infer and justify their reasoning, and develop mathematical understanding grounded in evidence rather than assumption.

Outside of school, I enjoy reading, going to the gym, and watching films, and I am also a fan of driving and motorsports, including cars, quad bikes, ATVs, snowmobiles, and jet skis. These activities reflect my appreciation for focus, precision, and controlled risk, which also translate into my approach to problem-solving and teaching.

What motivates me most as a teacher is seeing clear evidence of student progress and achievement. There is real satisfaction in watching students grow in confidence, overcome challenges, and develop a genuine understanding of mathematics. I am very much looking forward to meeting the students and families of Avenor and contributing to a positive, supportive, and inspiring learning environment.
