Teacher of English
Form Tutor 8 Delta
Cambridge Exams Sub-centre Coordinator

I chose to become a teacher because it is a profession that defines me more than others could. I am an adept student of lifelong learning, I am always open to the new and I like working with children and interacting with other people.

I graduated from Al.I.Cuza University in Iaşi, Faculty of Foreign Languages: English major – French minor. My teaching experience involves all levels of education, except university level. I have had the opportunity to teach English to preschool, primary, secondary and high school students. Before joining the Avenor College team I have worked in the state educational system, as well as in preparation centres where I had the responsibility to train students who wanted to achieve their Cambridge certificates.

Beyond my university studies, I have always tried to improve and perfect my teaching skills. I have participated in several national and international training courses and seminars organized by the Ministry of Education and the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry. I also took part in two international projects in partnership with several European countries. The activities in these projects helped me observe, learn and experience innovative and highly efficient teaching methods used by teachers in foreign countries and practice them with my own students.

I also graduated from the CELTA course administered by Cambridge Language Assessment. The main topics/skills acquired are Teaching and learning contexts, Language analysis and awareness, Language skills, Planning and resources.

In 2011 started my experience as an English teacher at Avenor College where I have had the chance to evolve and constantly develop my knowledge in the teaching field. I am very pleased with my English lessons, as I use a variety of methods and plenty of resources which has led to great results in the Cambridge exams and visible progress in my students’ English skills. I also benefitted from the long-term partnership between our school and the British Council who provided a lot of training courses and seminars, preparation materials and the necessary information and tools to keep my teaching experience on a constantly developing path and up to date with the latest trends and discoveries. The teaching activity involves lifelong learning and that is why I am always in touch with what is new in the field (both nationally and internationally) and I also took the TKT (Teaching Knowledge Test) exam in order to achieve an international certificate issued by the Cambridge University.

This year I intend to keep focusing on my students’ unique capabilities as well as combining Romanian and British curriculum to make the lessons enjoyable and useful at the same time. I will also continue my work as Cambridge ESOL examinations officer which implies being in permanent connection with the British Council and facilitating the students’ preparation for the Cambridge Exams as well as taking care of organizing details regarding the examination process.

I am very enthusiastic to begin a new year as a form tutor. This position will allow me to offer my students support for both their personal and academic development. I will do my best to enhance every student’s personality, increase their motivation and provide a positive role model. I am highly confident that Avenor College is the most appropriate environment for my students to grow and to develop both academically and personally.
