My passion for teaching Biology and Chemistry has guided me throughout a career spanning more than 10 years in international education, where I have taught students following the Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel curricula across Key Stage 3 (KS3), IGCSE, and A-Level. Throughout my career, I have developed a strong track record in curriculum implementation, examination preparation, academic leadership, and data driven student achievement.

My teaching philosophy is centred on teaching learners how to learn, equipping them with the skills, confidence, and independence to become lifelong learners. I believe that education should extend beyond the acquisition of knowledge to developing critical thinking, resilience, curiosity, and a genuine love of learning. By creating engaging, student-centred learning environments and integrating 21st century teaching methodologies with digital technologies, I strive to inspire every learner to achieve their full potential while fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom culture.

Having taught in Rwanda, Kenya, and Thailand, I have gained extensive international experience and a deep appreciation for cultural diversity. Working with students from different backgrounds has strengthened my patience, adaptability, and ability to build meaningful relationships that support both academic and personal growth.

Beyond the classroom, I have undertaken several leadership roles, including serving as Head of the Science Department and as an Examinations Officer. These positions have enhanced my leadership, collaboration, organisational, and strategic planning skills while giving me a comprehensive understanding of curriculum delivery, assessment standards, and effective examination preparation. They have enabled me to support both teachers and students in achieving consistently high academic outcomes.

I have also served as a Student Council Adviser, mentoring student leaders and guiding them in developing leadership, responsibility, teamwork, and effective communication skills. Working closely with the Student Council has strengthened my belief in empowering student voice, promoting positive school culture, and providing learners with opportunities to become confident and responsible leaders within the school community.

Professionally, I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) and a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. I have continually invested in my professional growth through Cambridge Professional Development programmes, the Certificate in Teaching the International Curriculum, and regular Safeguarding and Child Protection training, ensuring that my teaching remains current, reflective, and aligned with international best practice.

Outside the classroom, I believe that an outstanding teacher should also contribute to the wider school community. I am a table tennis coach and have successfully coached students to national level competitions  and I have also coached dance teams to national competitions in Kenya. My passion for travel and exploring different cultures inspired me to establish an Adventure Club, encouraging students to develop resilience, perseverance, teamwork, and confidence through outdoor experiences and new challenges. These opportunities help students build character and cultivate the positive mindset needed to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.
