Miruna-Roxana Iacob
Learning Assistant

I graduated from the Faculty of Letters at Ovidius University in Constanța, with a major in Romanian-English, and completed the Teacher Training Programme (Modulul Psihopedagogic), which allowed me to begin my career in education. I am currently completing the first year of my Master’s degree in English Linguistics, where I explore in depth the structure, meaning, and use of language – knowledge that greatly enhances my teaching practice.
Prior to university, I attended “Traian” Theoretical High School in Constanța, specializing in Philology. During high school, I took part in several interdisciplinary projects that helped me develop essential communication and collaboration skills. Through initiatives such as the “Filmmic” Short Film Festival for high school students and the intercultural project “We Are Here, We Have Always Been Here”, I gained valuable experience working with peers from different backgrounds, both nationally and internationally.
In my first year at Avenor, I had the opportunity to work as an ESL teacher, supporting groups of primary students in developing their English skills through engaging and interactive lessons. I also taught phonics to Reception students, an experience that taught me the value of play-based learning, rhythm, and emotional connection in early language acquisition. During this time, I also obtained the Cambridge TKT (Teaching Knowledge Test) certificate, which validated my pedagogical knowledge and skills in English language teaching.
I have a strong passion for the English language, particularly for grammar and the way linguistic structures reflect thought and culture. I am also interested in areas such as pragmatics, differentiated instruction, and modern assessment strategies. I believe that an effective teacher is a lifelong learner – someone who adapts, reflects, and encourages independence and creativity in students.
To me, education is not just about academic knowledge; it’s about supporting the holistic development of every child. I strive to foster values such as empathy, cooperation, and self-confidence in the classroom, while creating a safe and stimulating learning environment where students feel empowered to explore, make mistakes, and grow.
Being a teacher means building meaningful relationships, guiding children through their learning journey, and growing alongside them. It is both a great responsibility and a continuous source of joy and inspiration.
