Oana-Silvana Sofian

Systems and Communication Lead
Clubs Coordinator
Piano Teacher

My name is Oana-Silvana Sofian and I am super excited to be part of the Avenor Nursery family since 2018. I started as a piano teacher for the Reception and Year 1 children and continued teaching music for the Year One classes, after my second year. It was in my fourth year at Avenor when another challenge and opportunity appeared, to coordinate the Co-curricular activities and to work hand in hand with the educational coordinator and the management team on the timetables and schedules for the whole nursery. Now I am TLR – Systems and Co-Curricular Developer and the Piano Teacher for the Avenor Nursery.

The unbelievable energy and feedback that the children have alongside the unconditional and inexhaustible river of inspiration that you feel when working with them was the main reason why I became a teacher. I realised a long time ago how honoured teachers are to have the chance to shape and teach little humans and to have a job in which you never stop learning and growing, because ‘once a teacher, always a student’.

After graduating from the Faculty of Composition, Musicology and Musical Pedagogy with a specialty in Choral Conducting and Music Pedagogy, at the National University of Music – Bucharest I decided to enrich my knowledge by discovering different cultures, so for the next 10 years I traveled, lived and taught in Spain, Panama and Costa Rica. Following a 4 year break, in which I enjoyed motherhood, I realised that “being a teacher is not what I do, it’s who I am”, so with great joy and love I continued teaching people of all ages that felt the need of discovering the amazing world of music.

So my main passions are music and children, that’s why I consider myself extremely lucky to have found the beautiful Avenorian family, where I can put in practice every day my knowledge and I can combine and develop my passions. I am convinced that music makes the world better, connects people, and helps us to express our feelings in an artistic and beautiful way. It is scientifically proven that the brain is stimulated and develops entirely when we sing and play music, especially when we play an instrument.

So, I am very happy to be here and to continue my life journey at the Avenor Nursery as a Piano & Music Teacher and as TLR – Systems and Co-Curricular Developer. I hope to keep on growing and continue becoming an important member of the community. As I did and always do with the opportunities in my life, I embrace this new year with a lot of enthusiasm and with the wish of overcoming myself in all the practical and strategic aspects of my job.
