Teacher of Economics & Business Studies
Form Tutor 12 Alfa

My passion for education sparked from the awe and gratefulness towards great mentors and teachers I met in Middle School and then High School. They inspired me through their own dedication and appropriation of the mission for authentic education, focused on values and on the individual. As such, I have developed a personal perspective on learning and education driven by a lively passion that I experience each time I come into contact with learners.

I define my role in education as a facilitator for effective learning. Especially in teaching economics and business studies, I try to work on calibrating learning objectives with learners’ personal character and citizenship development goals, driven by curiosity for our socio-economic context. I focus on critical thinking which sometimes also involves unlearning concepts for logical and personal learning to happen – for both students and myself.

I have studied Cybernetics, Statistics and Computer Science Faculty – Economic Studies Academy in Bucharest and hold a Bachelor Degree as economist. Later on I attended the Project Management Masters’ degree courses at the National School of Political and Administrative Sciences in Bucharest.

My work experience started as a financial officer in a relatively small Romanian event planning company. Being surrounded by a wonderful team of young entrepreneurs I have discovered and experienced the beauties and difficulties of owning and growing businesses.

On the other hand, for more than 10 years now I have been involved in designing and delivering non-formal educational programmes. Between 2007 – 2012, I have contributed to international, multicultural camps and non-formal educational initiatives around cultural diversity and active citizenship as a member of “Expedition Inside Culture” NGO. I have also designed and delivered multiple “Financial Management for Startups” courses and workshops as well as “Grassroots economics” courses for young adults and teenagers as part of the “Alternative University” and “Learnity” educational programmes in Bucharest.

One other hat I’m wearing and is very close to my heart is being an active volunteer, recently elected as vice president of the National Association of Romanian Haemophiliacs. In the last few years, my focus has been designing and coordinating all of our educational projects. Since 2018, I have also had the honour to be contributing to educational projects in this community at European level, as a member of the European Haemophilia Consortium’s Youth Committee.

No matter what specific hat I wear, I love working with and for people and consider myself very lucky to have the opportunity to do what I love. As an enthusiastic member of the Avenor team and community, I am looking forward to co-creating educational experiences this year!
