Head of Mathematics

Avenor College is welcoming a knowledgeable, passionate Head of Mathematics to lead a diverse, dynamic and collaborative department and to contribute to the teaching of Mathematics from KS3 to A Level. Applicants should be experienced Mathematics teachers, ready to work with KS3-5 students and inspirational leaders.
We have fully resourced rooms in a new state-of-the-art Senior building. The college offers varied opportunities for personal and professional development through a model that gives teachers voice, choice, and agency.
At A Level, our students study the CAIE 9709 curriculum, after having studied the CAIE 0580 Mathematics syllabus. At Key Stage 3, our students follow the Cambridge Secondary 1 Curriculum, taking the Cambridge Checkpoint external examination at the end of Grade 8. The results, alongside other indicators, are a testimony of the successful implementation of the Mathematics learning programme.

- Have deep and flexible subject knowledge to design and facilitate learning of Mathematics in Middle School, IGCSE and A Level;
- Know how students learn, motivating and challenging them by creating a stimulating learning experience;
- Lead the development by updating schemes of work and collaborating with leaders of other subjects to ensure horizontal articulation of the curriculum;
- Be fluent in English;
- Inspire trust and confidence in students, parents and colleagues;

Timescale:
- Applications will be reviewed on receipt;
- First-round interviews will be conducted online;
- Final interviews for shortlisted candidates will be individually arranged;
- Part of the recruitment process will include a demo lesson that can be either online or in person.
