Head of Science

Start date: August 2026

Avenor College is welcoming a knowledgeable, effective and experienced Head of Science to lead a diverse, dynamic and collaborative department that teaches in three modern, purpose built and fully resourced laboratories in a new state of the art Senior building. The Science department consists of seven Science teachers and two lab technicians, and the college offers varied opportunities for personal and professional development through a model that gives teachers voice, choice and agency.

We currently offer two learning pathways at IGCSE: CAIE Coordinated Science (Double Award), or CAIE Separate Sciences (Triple Award). Our Key Stage 3 provision follows the UK National curriculum through an in-house scheme of work, with a focus on developing investigative skills. At AS and A Level, students can choose to study Biology, Chemistry and Physics following the Cambridge International Curriculum.
