An account of the first Avenor exchange visit to King Edward VI School, Bury St Edmunds

No sooner had we arrived at the hotel than a bunch of smiling teens accompanied by Ms. Shelley greeted us, later followed by Mr. Burton – a small gesture that made all the difference and broke the ice for us to have not only an enriching and rewarding week but also a fun one. We all attended a wide range of classes, from computing and maths to politics and personal development, from psychology and debate to PE leadership, French, textiles and cooking; thus being lucky to catch a glimpse of the school’s values, focus and strategies and of the local flavour and rhythm of life.

If I were to sum up this week in a few words they would be- warm and helpful people everywhere who made things unforgettable for us.

Here are a few thoughts from our students:

“Thank you for helping us have such a good time there, I hope you will enjoy it here the same” – Damian
