High School

What do our students say?
Curriculum
At Avenor, the high school curriculum offers a balanced, relevant, and future-oriented educational pathway that supports each student’s academic and personal development. We combine international best practices with programmes developed in-house to create a coherent, rigorous, and flexible learning experience, adapted to the needs of a constantly changing world.
Learning covers essential areas such as English and modern languages, sciences, mathematics, humanities and social sciences, arts, technology, and computer science, with a strong focus on critical thinking, real-world application, and independence. Students are encouraged to explore, question, and build confidence in their own ideas within an environment that nurtures curiosity and continuous progress.
The academic pathway is aligned with Cambridge international standards, offering students the opportunity to progress from IGCSE to AS and A Level qualifications while choosing subjects that reflect their interests and aspirations. The curriculum is further enriched by subjects such as Romanian language and literature, which help our students develop their cultural identity, communication skills, and the confidence to express themselves clearly and effectively.
Beyond academic achievement, we nurture young people who can think independently, communicate effectively, and adapt confidently in a global world, prepared for top universities and for shaping their own path in life.
Career Guidance Programme at Avenor
At Avenor, we support our high school students in discovering their passions and building their pathway to the future through a well-structured Career Guidance Programme. The quality of this programme is confirmed by the Career Mark International Award, an international recognition that certifies excellence in careers education offered to our students.
In Grades 9 and 10, students develop leadership skills, take part in projects and entrepreneurial challenges, and begin to explore possible career pathways through a psychometric testing process. This helps them identify their strengths and interests, supporting them in choosing A Level subjects and making informed career decisions.
In Grades 11 and 12, the focus shifts to preparing personal portfolios, exploring universities and courses, and becoming familiar with the requirements and stages of the university application process. Students benefit from the support of our Career Counselling Team and the Unifrog online platform, which helps them identify the most suitable study programmes. Our counsellors, with extensive experience in guiding applications to universities worldwide, support our students all the way through to graduation.
Internships are an essential part of the Career Guidance Programme, offering real-world experiences in diverse fields – from medicine, arts and law to finance, STEM or civic engagement.
Our goal is for every Avenor graduate to be prepared not only for university admission, but also for life, becoming truly Future Ready.

Results
The high school pathway within the Cambridge international system is built progressively, enabling students to develop their academic competencies step by step and to define their future direction. Starting with IGCSE, continuing with AS Level and culminating with A Level, this pathway offers a clear yet flexible structure that encourages both academic achievement and independent thinking.
The results achieved by students reflect this progressive journey and confirm the level of preparation with which they complete each stage of high school.
A Levels (Advanced Level)
A Levels represent the final stage of the Cambridge high school pathway and are typically taken in grades 11 and 12.
It is a specialisation programme in which students study a reduced number of subjects, but at a highly advanced level. A Level results are essential for admission to top universities worldwide.
Assessment is graded on a scale from A* to E, with A* representing academic excellence.
The results achieved by grade 12 students who sat the 2025 A Level examinations at Avenor International High School are as follows: 11% A* grades – excellent results, 34% A* and A grades – top performance, 75% grades between A*-C – a strong global pass rate, and 100% pass rate – all students successfully passed the examinations.
AS Level (Advanced Subsidiary Level)
AS Level is the first half of the Advanced Level programme and is typically studied in grade 11.
This stage involves a significant deepening of chosen subjects, with a higher level of analysis and application of knowledge. AS results contribute to shaping the student’s academic profile and can either be completed as a standalone qualification or continued into A Level.
Assessment is graded on a scale from A to E, with A being the highest performance.
The results achieved by grade 11 students who sat the 2025 AS examinations at Avenor International High School are as follows: 35% A grades – top-level performance within the AS scale, 85% grades between A-C – very strong results, and a 99% pass rate.
IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education)
IGCSE represents the first important stage of high school within the Cambridge system and is typically taken at the end of grade 10.
It is a broad programme of subjects that provides students with a solid academic foundation and helps them discover their interests and strengths. Assessment is rigorous and based on externally marked, internationally recognised examinations.
IGCSE results are graded from A* to G, with A* being the highest level of achievement.

Events
Our high school students are involved in events, not only as participants, but often as organizers. In recent years, the events they have organised have brought together hundreds of community participants and often served a charitable purpose. In this way, students develop important skills in project management, which will help them later, regardless of the careers they choose.
