Primary School
Education at Avenor College is founded on a skill-based curriculum, where teaching and assessment by means of project based learning (PBL) create real opportunities of progress.
Primary classes are divided into Lower Primary (Grades Pregătitoare – 2) and Upper Primary (Grades 3 and 4), with teachers specialised in children’s learning needs.

Curriculum
In primary classes, the requirements of the Romanian National Curriculum – standards, reference objectives and competences -, as well as learning contents and evaluation forms are followed. Equally, teachers are prepared to use teaching methods and teaching principles specific to international education to tailor the resources, contents and methods of teaching / assessment to the individual learning needs of students according to Cambridge’s curriculum and educational resources.
Drama, Science, Ant and PSHE (personal, social and health education) classes are examples of the special attention given to the value of individual potential, beyond that of age.

PBL is the acronym for Project-Based Learning, a teaching and learning program that involves teamwork and connections between the disciplines studied. In the Primary School, students have 5 hours of PBL per week in Romanian and / or English in which they work on group projects related to school topics. The purpose of projects carried out during PBL classes is to develop “soft skills” such as cooperation, critical and creative thinking, empathy, the ability to make decisions in groups and solve real life problems.

Clubs
Avenor College clubs are designed to support and develop the individual interests and aspirations of each student and to meet the students’ personal development needs.
In preparatory classes and first grade, there are initiation and experimentation clubs, created to meet the specific needs of children of that age. Through direct experimentation, students will have the opportunity to get in touch with the specifics of the clubs, the skills required by such clubs, and the resources they need to successfully access these clubs.
After two years of experimentation and initiation, students in grades 3 and 4 can and must make decisions with regards to the cultivation of their talents and passions at a level that reaches performance.
We can thus move to the next level, an intensive level when performance is also viewed in relation to the other class and contestants.

We want our students to be happy children and to become well-balanced future adults, able to develop beautiful relationships with those around them, to empathise and be receptive to the environment in which they live. In addition to curricular activities, these children need to invent, take risks, make mistakes, play together and enjoy life. They need personal development. They need personal development.
Avenor College’s vision is inspired by Howard Gardner’s theory of “multiple intelligences”, according to which the school must develop and motivate students’ individual values through academic, sports and artistic programmes supported by personal, emotional, and social factors.

Avenor events enrich the experience of our students, create opportunities for them to socialize, give them the opportunity to show their talents or to prove their progress from year to year.
